Some catchments for smaller streams are not yet identified and remain aggregated as 'costal' or 'area' polygons. Does not take into account man-made diversion/tunnels for hydro-electric powerstations.
At this stage not all catchements have a teritary catchment name. Only those catchments around the Rotorua Lakes area have tertiary catchments.
Catchment boundaries were determined by Bay of Plenty Regional Council staff, drawn onto 1:50,000 topographic maps and digitised. Data must be used with appropriate recognition of scale and that it is the best infomation at the time but may change as more knowledge is gained.
